Explore Icelandic culture & cuisine: island delicacies, local beer, bacalao king, and farm delights.
Indulge yourself in Icelandic culture and cuisine on this day tour from Akureyri. We head off on a short ferry ride to Hrisey Island where we meet local fishermen and enjoy delicacies from the sea as well as angelica tea. Next, crossing the fjord back to the mainland, we visit the Kaldi Brewery, a family run microbrewery known for their excellent local beer selection. Then it’s on to Hauganes to meet the King of Bacalao. His salted cod is prized worldwide for its delicious taste and versatile dishes. If you’re brave enough, a taste of Iceland’s fermented shark can be had as well. Later, an optional additional addition to the tour is possible: we can drive deeper into the fjord to meet local farmers and try some of their homegrown products. You will finish the day feeling like a true Icelander!
